🌱 Green Movement of Sri Lanka at CANSA Forum 2024 🌍

We are honored to represent Sri Lanka at the CANSA Forum, where we are collaborating with other South Asian nations to lead the way in advocating for and taking action on climate change. The “Youth Dialogue on the Challenges Faced by the Indigenous Communities” was held on August 10, 2024, at the Morabedda Variga Council Grounds in the historic Variga Maha Gedara in Dambana. This event was organized in alignment with the 2024 International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.

Around 300 youth from various Indigenous communities, including Dambana, Dalukana, Pollebedda, Henanigala, Ratugala, and Vakare, gathered for this dialogue. The event was led by the esteemed Vannila Aththo, the chief of the Uruwarige clan, with the participation of regional Variga leaders.

The event was organized by the Sri Lanka Green Movement, with support from FIAN Sri Lanka, ACTED, and Three Zero House, ensuring that the dialogue successfully highlighted the challenges and aspirations of the Indigenous youth in 2024.
